About AFPAG: Advocacy

Request an Advocate

One of the most important types of support AFPAG provides all foster parents, not just association members, is an advocate to help you navigate through the complex and sometimes confusing process of addressing issues with the Division of Family and Childrens Services.

Support of an advocate is a right you have by law under the Foster Parents Bill of Rights.  If you need help, call the AFPAG Advocacy Hotline at

                        877-804-6610

Or James Faulk, at

                        478-461-3539

The following forms represent the three levels of the grievance procedure.  If you are unable to resolve an issue through communication with your local county DFCS office, and you feel that there is a grievable issue, you can begin the Grievance Procedure by filing a Form 80 at Level One.  If there is still no satisfactory resolution, then you may continue with Form 82 at Level Two.  Finally, as a last resort, you may file Form 84 at Level Three.  Please refer to your Foster Parent Handbook for details on the Grievance Procedure and a list of grievable issues, or contact an AFPAG advocate.
